In reading, we did a lot of practice and review with synonyms, authors purpose, and main idea/supporting details. We broke off into groups and presented a commercial and the rest of the class had to decide if the purpose was to persuade, inform, express feelings, or entertain. It was a lot of fun. Then to reinforce concepts they had independent practice with synonyms and main idea/supporting details. For math today, we wrote our final copy for our 6-trait writing assessment. They were able to use a dictionary and thesaurus to edit their rough draft before writing their final copy in pen. I was so happy to hear how many of them LOVE to write.

Thrilling Thursday
Happy Thrilling Thursday! This morning after our morning meeting we practiced a lock down drill which is where we turn off the lights, shut the blinds, lock the door, and hide behind the wall where the coats are until the we are all safe and the lock down in over. This was a drill and they did a GREAT job! We did a little science this morning and worked on our special plot. Last week we went outside, marked an area that is about a foot by a foot and drew everything they saw in that area. Today they worked on making a final copy with an key and identifying everything, whether it is abiotic or biotic. I attached a fun song we listened to while we worked that reviewed what we have been talking about in science:
