Today went by SO fast!! We had library right away and when we got back had our spelling post test. For reading, we reinforced the theme question and talked a lot about culture and finding common ground through our culture. I asked everyone in the class to find out what their culture is and a type of food or holiday they celebrate that is because of their culture. Then on Monday we will discuss everyones culture and find some common ground in our classroom. We will have 4th grade buddies at Alkali Creek this year, so today we worked on our letters so that we can get some letters in return soon. In math, we had an assessment on place value through thousandths and it will be taken for a math grade. I know they all did GREAT!! For buddies we helped our buddy write an acrostic poem with their name! They did an EXCELLENT job and their buddies kept telling me they LOVE it when the 5th graders come help them. For team building, we got into 5 groups and had to work together to put a puzzle together without talking and you couldn't add a piece to the puzzle until everyone else in the group had added a piece. Then we discussed how it is easier to get something done when we are able to communicate and people are encouraging us while making positive comments! We are going to work on encouraging one another to always do their best!!
We celebrated Avery this afternoon and she shared a lot of things with us. She LOVES pink and dancing, and even came up with "TuTu Tuesday"! She shared ribbons she won from 4-H, her pink duck tape wallet, a neckless she made, earrings (they were pink), a book of pictures of her and her family, and her favorite book "The Runaway Dolls". She has 2 dogs named Maggie and Lola, her favorite dessert is pudding pie, she has and older brother, and her favorite dinner is lasagna. We are so thankful Avery is part of our class family and loved learning new things about her!
Please remember to bring one or two family pictures for the "Friends and Family" board and a bag of candy to help up with Saturday Live! Have a WONDERFUL weekend!!
