Thinking Tuesday

This morning our day was started off with health enhancement/p.e.  For reading, we discussed fun things we can do with people that don't speak the same language such as dancing, music, learn each others language, and playing to name a few, to build common ground with people.  We reviewed our vocabulary words and then practiced making inferences. When you make inferences you need to remember to ask yourself questions:
1. What information does the author give me?
2. What other information do I need to understand this text?
3. Does the text remind me of my own experiences?
4. How is the selection related to other texts I have read?
5. How can I put together what I read and what I know to fill in the gaps and make an inference?
We make inferences all the time, just don't always know when we are making them!  We practiced spelling during reading too. For math, we started with multiplying decimals and we did a LOT of practice with this and took notes.  We spent more time of math then expected and didn't make it to social studies, which we will have to pick up on Thursday. Here is a picture of a page out of our math notes to understand multiplying decimals incase we practice them as home or have homework.
This afternoon Avery used her "Show and Tell" coupon to bring her Yorkie, Lola.  Lola is almost 5 years old, her best friend is a Saint Bernard named Maggie, she can sit/lay, and she is the boss of the dogs.  Thank you Avery for bringing Lola and sharing her with us!  We enjoyed meeting her!
