Wintery Wednesday
Boy oh boy did this morning start out cold and gloomy! Although it was pretty exciting to see the snowflakes this morning while we were working on writing! We started a writing project and it is going to go along with the book ""The Day I Swapped my Dad for Two Gold Fish" by Neil Gailman. We will be going through the entire writing process up to publication. Today, we read the story and did some vocabulary work with "swapped". For reading, we listened to the story " The Day Tia Lola came to visit/stay". We listened to it because there are some Spanish phrases and Mrs. Umemoto was not very good at pronouncing the words correctly. We discussed the story and then got into partners and shared our predictions, connections, inferences, and questions we had sticky noted in our books the last couple days. For language, we discussed the 4 different types of sentences and I reminded them that I am noticing a lot of sentences not starting with a capital letter and ending with punctuation. I am going to start taking points away when there is no capitalization and or punctuation, along with capitalizing random letters in sentences. For math, we corrected our math assignment from yesterday and did a lot of practice with multiplying whole numbers with decimals. Once we felt like we were understanding we did a practice sheet for a grade.
