Today in reading, we spent most of the period discussing our theme question "What did America mean to the first European settlers?", what led up to the Revolutionary war, and our vocabulary words for the week (patriot, rebellion, constitution, and economy). We also read out of our read aloud "Touching Spirit Bear", hoping to finish it soon so we can start and finish a new book before the holiday break.
We will be discussing chapter 10 "Growing Tensions Between the Colonies", in social studies Wednesday since it falls perfectly into our reading this week.
In spelling our focus is vowel/consonant/consonant/vowel words.
In math, we worked with problem solving applications. We will starting adding decimals tomorrow!
We earned a celebration and the class choose a "camping day" for this Friday. So that means we are able to bring our sleeping bags Friday and then there are 3 students bringing tents. We will go through our normal routine, but during independent work time, they can lay on their sleeping bags or sit in the tents.
Midterms along with a survey came home today. Please sign and return by Friday : )
For $50 tomorrow, tell me something you are thankful for...... ( I am thankful for each and every one of my incredible 5th graders!!)
