Whimsical Wednesday

Well, I guess Will came back from the North Pole wanting to smell the roses!  Sure hope he found himself a safe place to sit throughout the day and doesn't end up falling in the vase and going for a swim!

This morning we did social studies so that we can do our "Taxation without Representation" tomorrow.  We discussed the French and Indian War, the Proclamation of 1763, The Quartering Act, The Stamp Act, The Boston Massacre, The Boston Tea Party, and The Intolerable Acts.  Tomorrow we will be role playing "Taxation without Representation" to experience what the colonists felt about all the taxes they had to pay. We will be having a king/queen, tax collectors, and the rest will be colonists. If taxes aren't paid we will be sent to jail.  I will post pictures tomorrow and this is a great discussion to have at home about how they felt.

In reading, we finished our read aloud, discussed the focus question, practiced using context clues to understanding the meaning of unknown words and practiced with comparing and contrasting using a "T chart".

In math we went over our assignment from yesterday, adding decimals.  We went over problems we missed to see our mistakes and then had an assignment over adding decimals for a grade.  They all felt confident about understanding how to add decimals.

For $50 tomorrow solve the following problem

3.5+12.56+8=
