Day 1 of our O.R.E.O Project

Happy Wonderful Wednesday!  This morning we started the prewriting process for our stories.  We are creating our own stories after reading the story " The Day I Swapped my Day for Two Gold Fish".  We will really get going on our stories next week.  We did some practice with spelling and then watched a couple videos on the scientific process and variables when doing an experiment.  Discussed independent variables, dependent variables, and controlled variables. Then the fun began and we performed our experiment on "How many oreos we can stack before it tumbles over?".  This was a LOT of fun and an added bonus when we got to eat some oreos while doing our experiment!   It was so much fun walking around and hearing their conversation and talking math and science! I had a perminant grin on my face and LOVED seeing them engaged! Our class mean was 18 and I attached a video below! We will continue with our O.R.E.O project tomorrow when we try to persuade the class "The best way to eat an Oreo". For math we continued the meaning of division and did some independent practice.  Remember that book orders are due on Friday and school pictures are also Friday!!
