It was SO much fun to see everyone in pink today! Mrs. Neese came in this morning to talk about drugs and the reason for dressing up all week. We did an activity to talk about drugs. We ran in place for 30 seconds, which was pretty easy. Then we ran in place while plugging our nose and breathing through a straw, no one could last 30 seconds and the average was 15 seconds. We did this because drugs are not good for our body and lungs. We are unable to do the things we like on drugs such as football, dancing, soccer, and skiing.
For reading, our theme question for the next month is "Why do people seek the unknown?". This week, we are focusing on " What motivates explores to find new places?". We have been discussing inventions and what our life would be like without them and how they help us explore new things. We practiced spelling today through playing shuffle board, which was fun and will help us be ready for our test tomorrow. In math, we have been doing a LOT of dividing!! The beginning of the week we divided by whole numbers and today practiced dividing with a zero in the quotient. It is REALLY important for us to know our multiplication facts when dividing, so I encourage everyone to practice their multiplication facts! We ended our day with "Hooked on Fishing". This is a program through Wild Life Fish and Game. They will be coming to our classroom once a month to teach us ALL about fish. It is a GREAT program and a LOT of fun, plus we get to go fishing at the end of year!! Today we learned about how to ID fish. When identifying fish we look at their eye, fins, and mouth. Some fish we discussed and identified are Longnose Sucker, Common Carp, Eye Spot fish, Cutthroat Trout (Montana state fish),White Sucker, Walleye, Brook Stickleback, Stonecat (poisonous spines), Channel Catfish( sensory barbels), Pallid Sturgeon (endangered), and Northern Pike.
For $50 tomorrow tell me the state fish : )......
