Mischief Monday

This morning for art, the class finished their Keith Harring project which is drawing characters.  For reading, we are finishing up unit 1 which is " How do we achieve common ground?", by discussing all the stories, vocabulary, and going over drawing inferences and author's purpose.  This Wednesday, we we are going to be participating in the O.R.E.O project. Classrooms around the world will need to have students stack oreo cookies as high as he or she can and then average all their individual results to achieve a final class result.  We will then be presenting persuasive speeches on Thursday on "The best way to eat an oreo".  Then on Friday, we will be participating in the Oreo Sculpture project, which is using only oreos and the creme filling to create unique sculptures (such as trains, houses, ect.)  I will need each student to bring in 1 bag of Nabisco's Oreo Chocolate and Creme Sandwich cookies to complete the project.  This should be a fun project while incorporating science, social studies, math, writing, public speaking, and reading.  We will start on Wednesday so please have oreos here by then.  Our spelling rule for the week is vowel+r words and we will be practicing with this throughout the week as well.  For math, we reviewed multiplying and this will help me determine if we need to spend more time reviewing and practicing multiplication or if we can move on to division.  We ended the day with health enhancement. Reminder: book orders are due Friday, October 12th along with school pictures!
