Report Card Monday

Happy MARVELOUS Monday!! I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!  This week in spelling, our words are homophones which are words that are pronounced the same, but are spelled differently, and have different meanings.  In reading, our focus question is "How does science help us understand and live in our world?".  We discussed qualities that we feel explorers should have and why those qualities are important.  We also discussed if it would be fun to be an explorer and why. Our vocabulary words and definitions are:
Research- the act of studying in order to learn facts
Species- means "a group of plants and animals that have similar characteristics
substance- is a certain kind of material
expedition- is a journey or trip made for a specific purpose, or the team of people making that journey
For math, we are continuing with division this week, but getting more into dividing with larger dividends.  Remember when dividing, the "Royal Family":
Daddy Divides
Mommy Multiples
Sister Subtracts
Brother Brings Down
Rover Repeats Process or Remains
Mr. Potato has gotten his mustache, which means we earned a CELEBRATION!!  The class voted that they would like 45 minutes of technology!  So on Friday, they can bring their own technology (Ipod, DS, cd player, MP3 player, nook/kindle) to use from 11:00-11:45! They are responsible for what they bring, it must fit in their backpack, and be school appropriate games!


* Report cards went home today and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday students get out at 12:00 p.m. due to parent teacher conferences : )
