Terrific Tuesday

So I totally spaced out blogging yesterday and am SO sorry!  Monday we spent a lot of time discussing Veteran's day and the importance of it! We wanted to get ready for our special visit from the Marines.  We read and talked about  American's White Table using our reading strategies, along with The Wall.   American's White Table is one of my favorite books and holds a special place in my hearts.  It is a great way of remembering those veterans both alive and those who have passed! Then we took our spelling pretest to help us know what words we needed to study throughout the week.  In math yesterday, we started dividing with larger numbers, which we will be working on until Wednesday and then moving on to dividing larger numbers with zeros in the quotient.  That is a look at yesterday!

This morning I was away at meetings, but during reading the class worked on making connections to the weekly theme and vocabulary.  They also worked with making predictions.  For math, we practiced more with dividing with larger numbers and then were assigned 3 problems to work on independently.  This afternoon our special visitors, the Marines came and talked to us about Veteran's Day and what it means to them.  We were lucky to get both an active Marine and one that is retired but fought in the Vietnam War.  They answered a lot of our questions and even talked about the white table.  To thank them we gave them our flag we made with our handprints along with the book American's White Table with all of our signatures inside.  We ended our day with Successmaker and Read About.

For $50 tomorrow, tell me one thing on the white table and what is stands for......
