Thankful Tuesday

Happy Thankful Tuesday since today is voting day and we live in an AMAZING country!! For reading today, we talked about our focus question " What happens when scientists make discoveries?". We talked about that people who accomplish remarkable things don't always have success immediately.  They learn from mistakes and keep trying, applying what they have learned to challenging situations.  This week we are going to read about Matthew Henson's desire to reach the North Pole.  We discussed our vocabulary words:
survey-the measurement of land to show its boundaries
befriend- to become a friend to someone
mission-a special job or task
We also discussed making predictions and it is important to make them before you read to get yourself ready to read and then while reading to check for understanding.  We met in small groups and had discussions over our inferences, connections, and questions.  For math, we got started with dividing whole numbers by 2-digit divisors.  We took notes and did LOTS of practice on white boards.  We will continue practicing this tomorrow.  It is VERY important we know our multiplication facts and make estimations to helps us!  We will be getting into longer division and spending a lot of time working with this in whole/small group to make sure we understand.  In social studies, we worked on our lapbooks and added information to them.  Tomorrow will be an exciting day, to know who our next president will be!  For $50, solve the following problems:
2400 divided by 60=
5600 divided by 800=
